Essential Oil Bath Salts

Bath salts are on of the simplest ways to use essential oils for relaxation, stress, and especially sore muscles. Epsom salts are some of my favourite because the magnesium in the salts relaxes muscles. Combine with essential oils, and it’s a very effective remedy for an achy body. Draw yourself a hot bath and add one of these essential oil bath salts recipes.

What you need:

glass jar
1 cup baking soda
1 cup unscented Epsom salt
1/2 cup fine sea salt

15-20 drops essential oils

1. Mix salts and baking soda.
2. Add essential oils and mix. Start with small amounts & sniff it out. As a rule, keep your mints & eucalyptus oils in lower amounts as they’re overpowering aromas.
3. Store in glass jar and use as needed.
4. Pour 1 cup of mixture under hot running water.
*Double mixture and store for quick use.

Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is known to reduce muscle tension.
Sea salt softens the water. I recommend fine grind as it dissolves easier and it’s not comfortable to slide onto pebbles!
Baking soda will help reduce hot spots in the water. Also an alkalizer.

Avoid using “hot” oils like clove, cinnamon, black pepper etc in the bath. Any essential oils that leave a burning sensation on the skin when used neat may be amplified in the bath. Test the essential oils on your skin first before using in the bath.
