We were on hot holidays recently, and I learned that I am allergic to sunlight. After repeated exposure to sunlight, my skin (even with sunscreen) breaks out into hives. It’s incredibly itchy and frustrating, and sunshine actually makes it sting and burn. To top of the rash I was dealing with, I forgot to apply adequate sunscreen in the afternoon after swimming, and ended up with a red skin that night.
Here’s the easiest way to soothe and nourish the skin after sun.
DIY Essential Oil Sun Soother
15 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops frankincense essential oil1. Mix together ingredients in glass jar.
2. Apply to stressed skin.
3. Store in cool, dark place. (Coconut oil melts in heat)
I found that it was best to use tone the area with witch hazel and tea tree or a gentle toner first to deal with itchiness, let it dry, and then apply the lotion.
